Wish List

An annual opportunity to submit requests for project upgrades in Thornton

How it works:
1. An amount is budgeted annually for wish list submissions for Ward 53 (Epping, Garden Village, Thornton, Pinelands)
2. Sub Council notifies TRRA about closing dates for wish list submissions
3. TRRA notifies the community
4. Submissions must be specific to an address
5. TRRA compiles a list of all submissions of registered members and submits it to Sub Council
6. Non members submits their own list to Sub Council (subcouncil.15@capetown.gov.za)
7. Sub Council compiles a list of all submissions received for Ward 53 (Epping, Garden Village, Thornton, Pinelands)
8. The list of submissions are prioritized at a Ward Committee meeting
9. Sub-council notifies TRRA which submission has been approved

Final 2021 wish list decision.
Due to budget constraints only the upgrade of the tennis courts was approved. The decision was based on the fact that it will benefit more members of the community.
Expected timeline – July 2022

Feedback on wish list submissions
We have received confirmation from Council that the following three Wish List items have been shortlisted:
1. Installation of a spot light at the top end of Kareeboom Street (Viking end)
2. Fence along the canal from bridge towards Thornton Station on Heldersig Extension
3. Upgrade of the Tennis court and the surrounding fields
The next step is the assessment for the cost involved for the three approved wishes. Council will then advise what monetary amount will be allocated to each.

Unfortunately, the following were not approved, as the costs related to this is outside the scope of Ward Allocation:
1. Swimming Pool
2. Library
Planting of trees was re-assigned to a C3 request and this is now in progress.

We can now look forward to other changes we wish to see for the next Wish List, next year.

It is because we exist that we can actively be part of initiatives like the wish list as we are the designated organization with whom Council communicates about community matters and we in turn notify you.
